Donors may provide financial assistance to a specific college or for students from an identified school, church, or other organization while retaining the fund within the Community Foundation.
The Foundation honored scholarship donors and their recipients at the fifth annual scholarship reception on May 19, 2005 in the Foundation offices in Her-Ber Meadows. This year, NWACF had seven scholarship funds that awarded twelve scholarships.
STANLEY & ANNABEL APPLEGATE EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Stanley and Annabel Applegate Scholarship Fund was established by Dr. and Mrs. Stanley Applegate to provide financial assistance to Springdale residents interested in pursuing undergraduate or graduate studies at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, AR.

BATES NURSING SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Bates nursing scholarship was established to financially assist nursing students in the most expensive semesters of the Nursing Program. Each fall, the fund will award to a first semester nursing student. Each spring, a scholarship to a fourth semester student will be awarded.

BILL FLEEMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
 
Betsy and Kim Greehey established this scholarship fund on April 30, 2003 in memory of her father, the late Bill Fleeman of Rogers. Fleeman founded Car-Mart in 1981 and built it into America's largest independent used car dealership before he sold it in January 1999. The scholarship selects outstanding graduates from Rogers High School who exhibit an entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrate financial need.

WILLIE GEORGE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Willie George Scholarship Fund was created by the Gene George and Lillian Redwine families in memory of their mother, Willie George. The fund provides financial assistance to northwest Arkansas residents enrolling in a course of study in nursing or other health-related professions at schools in northwest Arkansas. This includes undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as candidates in non-degree programs in a health care field.

RYAN GIBSON SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Ryan Gibson Scholarship was created to help a deserving Springdale High School student continue their education by providing financial assistance for tuition, books, fees or other college-related costs over one academic year.
Ryan Gibson was an honors graduate of Springdale High School and Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He was working on a joint cancer research project, while waiting to start medical school in the fall of 2001. After winning an incredible fight against leukemia, Ryan's life was lost to an unrelated illness. Friends and family wanting to honor Ryan created this fund to provide scholarship assistance to a student graduating from Springdale High School pursuing post-secondary education at a four-year college with a major in the sciences.

HAROLD E. HENSON SR. SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This scholarship fund became a member of NWACF family of funds on November 1, 2001. The fund provides scholarship(s) to worthy students who are graduates of Springdale High School and are pursuing post-secondary education at a two or four-year college or vocational school.

JOHNSON SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This fund was created through the estate of the late Elmer and Dot Johnson to furnish renewable scholarships for worthy, ambitious, and needy graduates of Springdale High School. Recipients may attend colleges or universities anywhere in the state of Arkansas.

CARL AND ALLEEN MCKINNEY SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This fund provides a non-renewable scholarship for financial assistance to a graduating senior at Bentonville High School enrolling in a full-time program at a vocational/technical school.

WILLIAM G. NELSON SCHOLARSHIP FUND
William G. Nelson was from a pioneer family in Springdale and lived most of his life in northwest Arkansas. When he passed away, Mr. Nelson left a bequest to the community foundation to establish a scholarship to aid deserving students in completing their education as a physical therapy assistant (PTA).

SPRINGDALE KIWANIS SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Springdale Kiwanis Club established their scholarship endowment fund with NWACF on April 23, 2003. This organization also qualified to receive $2,500 from the NWACF Agency Endowment Match Program. The Springdale Kiwanis Club will award scholarships to outstanding graduating seniors from Springdale High School.

WEISER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
This renewable scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors from Springdale High School who demonstrate financial need and have personal circumstances that make pursuing secondary education at a two- or four-year school more challenging.
